The 20 Minute Sunday Checklist That Gets Every Deadline Out of Your Head

You know the feeling. You finally sit down to relax on Sunday evening, and your brain decides it is time for an audit: What is due tomorrow? Did the professor drop something Friday night? What am I forgetting?

That mental loop is not rest; it is unpaid work. And it will keep running until you close it properly, just once, with a simple system.

Good news: it only takes four steps and about 20 minutes.

Step 1: Dump the dates (5 min)

Open every course portal and write down everything due in the next two weeks. Quizzes, discussion posts, assignments, exams, group project milestones; all of it goes on one single list.

Do not organize. Do not stress about it. Just capture.

Step 2: Tag each item A, B, or C (3 min)

Now give each item a quick letter:

• A: Graded, it is on you alone, and it is due within 7 days. This is where your energy goes.
• B: Graded but due later, or it is a group thing. Important, but not this week's fire.
• C: Ungraded, optional, or just reading. Nice to do, totally fine to skip if the week gets hectic.

That is your whole priority system. Worry budget goes to A items. Everything else can wait its turn.

Step 3: Block it on your calendar (10 min)

Here is where the magic happens:

• Every A gets two blocks: a 45 to 60 minute drafting session on a weekday evening, plus a finishing block the day before it is due.
• Every B gets one block this week, and a reminder pinned to next Sunday so you do not lose track.
• Every C gets one block on your lightest day, with full permission to skip it if life happens.

Step 4: Name your reminders (2 min)

Set one alarm per A item. But here is the key: make the label specific. Not "homework"; that is useless at 8 PM on a Tuesday.

Instead: "Submit BUS 210 Discussion Post, Week 4."

Vague labels lead to vague evenings. Specific labels lead to finished work.

And then? Monday just works.

You are not scanning anymore. You are not wondering. The week is already mapped out, and the only job left on a random Tuesday afternoon is showing up inside the blocks you set on Sunday.
